Presentation Abstract:
Dr. John Horch will be presenting a half-day seminar on the types of reviews that should take place through out the entire software development life cycle, with a major emphasis on quality assurance's and tester’s responsibilities for ensuring that the reviews are effective and productive. He will discuss the importance of In-Process Reviews, when to plan for them, and choosing the best methodology for their implementation – walkthroughs or inspections. Dr. Horch will also discuss placing greater emphasis upon the concept of
"Test Early and Test Often".
Biography:
Dr. Horch has over forty-five years of experience in all aspects of software development and management. More than forty of those years have involved software quality management tasks, including management of ISO 9001 registration and SEI CMM Level 3 assessment projects. He currently is a consultant to the NASA Technical Standards Program Office.
An internationally recognized speaker and author, Dr, Horch has, and continues to, present seminars and workshops on software quality management topics. A member of the IEEE Computer Society’s System and Software Engineering Standards Committee, Dr. Horch serves on its Standards Based Training and Competency Recognition Program Committees. He is a participating author in its Standards Book Series. Dr. Horch is a reviewer of the internationally developed Software Engineering Body of Knowledge, and serves the IEEE Computer Society’s Publications Operations Committee. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and of the ASQ, and serves on the Editorial Board of ASQ’s journal Software Quality Professional. Dr. Horch was the Founding Chair of the QAI-USA Certification Board and is a member of QAI-India’s Board of Advisors.
Dr. Horch is the author of "Practical Guide to Software Quality Management", Second Edition, published by Artech House, 2003. He is a recipient of the IEEE Computer Society’s Golden Core award, the IEEE Millennium Medal, and the QAI Lifetime Achievement Award.
